Police investigate rape
Pennsylvania state police at Towanda continue to investigate an allegation of rape in Smithfield Township.
According to information from state police, a male individual is alleged to have raped a 33-year-old female in July. Police said the male is known to the victim. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
Pennsylvania state police are investigating a recent vandalism incident on Bumpville Road in Rome Township.
According to information from state police at Towanda, an unknown actor or actors threw eggs and mustard on the surface of a vehicle between 10 p.m. July 27 and 9 a.m. July 28. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at (570) 265-2186.
Pennsylvania state police at Towanda are currently investigating a recent vandalism in Wyalusing Township.
According to state police information, an unknown actor or actors placed a dead fish inside a mailbox on Beacon Hill Road. The incident occurred between 5 p.m. July 28 and 6 a.m. July 29, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at (570) 265-2186.
Elmira woman arrested
An Elmira, N.Y. woman was recently charged with theft by unlawful taking by Athens Township police.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Tracy Jo Kobaly, 30, an employee at the K-Mart store on Elmira Street, recorded a payment on a layaway at the store, keeping the money instead of putting it in the cash register. Police said the amount taken was $50.15.
Kobaly's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 18.
Woman arrested for drug possession
A Waverly woman was recently arrested by village police on a charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
According to information from village police, Tara Jo Richart, 21, was also charged with criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and possession of a controlled substance not in its original container.
Police said RIchart was arrested at 8:25 p.m. Aug. 1 at a village business.
Richart was issued a ticket to answer the charges Aug. 16 in Village of Waverly court.
