DUI charges

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Dwayne A. Lafritz, 43, of Sayre, by Sayre borough police, on May 19, on North Elmer Avenue in Sayre. Lafritz has also been charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving damage to an unattended vehicle or property. A blood alcohol test later revealed that Lafritz's blood alcohol content was .13 percent on the day of his arrest. Lafritz has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw Aug. 28 for a preliminary hearing.

Man charged with making threats

A New Jersey man was recently arrested by Sayre borough police on a charge of making terroristic threats.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Brian V. Critelli, 38, of Long Branch, N.J., threatened to kill two borough residents July 22.

Critelli's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 4.

Two arrested in Sayre

Sayre borough police recently arrested two people following a traffic stop on Spring Street.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Thomas A. Bashore, 45, was charged with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said Teresa Ann Vanderpool-Vincent, 46, was charged with one count each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said the two were passengers in a vehicle officers stopped for a suspended registration Aug. 1. Bashore was in possession of a hypodermic needle and a plastic baggie containing marijuana, police said. Police found aluminum foil, a plastic tube with residue on it, two small screwdrivers with scraping residue and a substance believed to be bath salts in Vanderpool-Vincent's purse, according to police.

Both were arraigned Aug. 1 and remanded to the Bradford County Jail, Bashore on $10,000 bail and Vanderpool-Vincent on $20,000 bail. Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for Aug. 7.

Theft charge

An Athens man was recently arrested by Athens Township police on a charge of retail theft.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Graig Donald Callear, 21, was also charged with receiving stolen property.

Police said Callear attempted to remove a video game system valued at $159.96 from the Walmart store on Elmira Street.

Callear's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 4.

Sayre man charged with thefts

A Sayre man was recently charged with theft by unlawful taking by borough police.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Joshua R. Uhl, 21, was also charged with receiving stolen property and criminal mischief by damaging property.

Police said Uhl removed five batteries and three wiring harnesses from lawn tractors at a borough business, cutting battery wires in the process.

Uhl's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 4.

Drug possession charges filed

A Sayre man was recently charged with possession of a controlled substance by borough police.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Richard John Stapleton, 59, was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said they found bath salts, baggies, pipe screens and glass pipes in Stapleton's residence July 21.

Stapleton's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 4.

Man charged with making threats

A Sayre man was recently charged with making terroristic threats by borough police.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Mike Holden, 40, was also charged with disorderly conduct and harassment.

Police said Holden threatened to harm a juvenile male victim on June 28 at a residence on South Keystone Avenue.

Holden's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 28.

Rome man arrested

A Rome man was recently arrested by Sayre borough police on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Steven Kenneth Stack, 31, was also charged with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of disorderly conduct.

Police said Stack was arrested July 28 after attempting to engage in fighting in the 100 block of Desmond Street. Police found bath salts, a small plastic pen used as a straw and a small black container used to hold marijuana on Stack's person.

Stack's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 28.

Towanda man arrested on drug charges

A Towanda man was recently incarcerated by Sayre borough police on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Michael Allen Pierce, 25, was also charged with disorderly conduct.

Police said Pierce and another male ran around houses in the area of Garden and Tioga streets July 29 and broke a chain link fence at a Tioga Street residence. A hypodermic needle and metal spoon were found on Pierce's person, police said.

Pierce was arraigned July 29 by Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $45,000 bail. Pierce's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 7.
