Towanda man accused of fleeing scene of accident
William Cannon, 36, of Towanda is accused of fleeing the scene of an accident, which occurred on the night of Dec. 15 on U.S. Route 220 in Monroe Borough, police said.
The accident occurred when Cannon, who was operating a 2012 Chevrolet Impala, left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a parked 2000 Saturn, police said.
After the accident, police located Cannon's vehicle on Brocktown Road with heavy front damage to it, police said.
On the night of Dec. 15, Cannon telephoned police to report that his vehicle was stolen, according to the state police at Towanda.
However, Cannon later admitted to the police that he was driving his vehicle at the time of the crash, and that he had fled the scene of the accident, police said.
Cannon was uninjured in the accident, police said.
Accident occurs in Wysox Twp.
No one was injured in a motor vehicle accident that occurred on U.S. Route 6 in Wysox Township, 377 feet southwest of Maple Street, police said.
The accident occurred when a vehicle operated by Travis L. Ewert of Becida, Minn., was stopped in a travel lane, due to traffic being stopped, police said.
A vehicle operated by Luis A. Medrano of Towanda rear-ended Ewert's vehicle, police said.
Medrano told police that he hadn't noticed that traffic was stopped, according to the state police at Towanda.
Medrano, 40, was cited for following too closely, police said.
The accident occurred at 5:50 p.m. on Dec. 3, police said.
Teen charged with possession of weapon at Towanda school
A 13-year-old boy has been charged with possession of a weapon on school property, Towanda police said.
The weapon was a knife, Towanda Police Sgt. David Lantz said.
The incident occurred at the Towanda Area Junior/Senior High School in November, police said.
The offender did not threaten anyone with the knife, Lantz said.
A juvenile petition has been filed at the Bradford County Probation Department by the Towanda Borough Police.
Vehicle rolls onto its roof in Franklin Twp.
Joseph F. Kinniry, 25, of Philadelphia was uninjured when the vehicle he was driving was involved in a one-vehicle accident on Laquin Road in Franklin Township, police said.
The accident occurred at 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 4, when Kinniry struck an embankment with the front passenger side corner, police said.
The vehicle spun clockwise and rolled onto its roof, state police at Towanda said.
