Business burglarized in Sonestown

A burglary recently occurred at the Nittany Minit Mart on U.S. Route 220 in Sonestown, Sullivan County, police said.

At approximately 3:05 a.m. on Tuesday, someone entered the store through a back door, removed an undisclosed amount of cash and then fled the scene, police said.

Man pleads guilty to pot charge in Towanda

Travis John Kinner, 24, of Towanda pleaded guilty Wednesday in Towanda District Court to possession of a small amount of marijuana for personal use, and public drunkenness, online court records show.

The charges stemmed from an incident that occurred at about 1:55 a.m. on Jan. 10 near 1043 South Main St. in Towanda Township, police said.

At the time, Kinner was in possession of a small packet of green leafy material that tested positive for marijuana, state police at Towanda said.

Kinner was sentenced to time served, according to the Towanda District Court.

Towanda man waives hearing on DUI charge

Dylan Joseph Miller, 23, of Towanda recently waived his preliminary hearing in Towanda District Court on a DUI charge, online court records show.

Miller's case will therefore be transferred to the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, where he is scheduled to be arraigned on March 3.

Miller was charged with DUI after the state police pulled him over on Oct. 26 on U.S. Route 220 in Towanda Township, near the intersection with Patton Hill Road, police said. The traffic stop occurred because Miller failed to use a left-turn signal at the intersection of state Route 2027 and Route 220, and because he was driving erratically, police said.

A test revealed that Miller's blood alcohol content at the time was .249 percent, state police said.

Monroeton male faces pot charges

Tyler Daniel Cordner, 20, of Monroeton has been charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana for personal use and driving under the influence of a controlled substance, police said.

The charges were filed after the police pulled Cordner over at 6:08 p.m. on Dec. 23 on Liberty Corners Road in Towanda Township for driving without his headlights on, police said.

During the traffic stop, Cordner exhibited signs of intoxication and told police that he had smoked a marijuana cigarette within the past two hours, according to the state police at Towanda.

Prior to arresting Cordner on suspicion of DUI, state police did a custodial search of the vehicle and found two marijuana cigarettes inside the center console of the vehicle, police said.

Cordner was also charged with driving without insurance, driving an uninspected vehicle, careless driving, and driving without illuminated headlights, police said.

Cordner has been sent a summons which orders him to appear for a preliminary hearing in Towanda District Court on Feb. 14.

Two arrested in Owego robbery

The Tioga County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division recently arrested two people in connection to a strong-arm robbery at an Owego business.

According to information from the sheriff's office, Dale R. Menendez, 33, and Lisa A. Kleine, 35, both of Owego, were charged with second-degree robbery.

Police said Menendez, assisted by Kleine, used force to take medication from a victim Dec. 9 in the parking lot of the Rite-Aid on Main Street. The robbery was the first of two in recent weeks to occur at the pharmacy, police said. The second, an armed robbery, remains under investigation by the Owego Police Department, according to police.

Menendez and Kleine were arraigned in Owego Town Court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond each.

Retail theft charge

A Waverly man was recently arrested by Athens Township police on a charge of retail theft.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Garret James Dauberman, 26, attempted to remove two video games and a movie valued at $189.97 total from the Rite-Aid store on Elmira Street at about 7:09 p.m. Jan. 14.

Dauberman was arraigned Jan. 21 and released from the Bradford County Jail on non-monetary bail. Dauberman waived his preliminary hearing in district court.

Woman charged with fraud

Amy Jeanette Huff, 25, no address given, has been charged with one count of access device fraud and identity theft after police were notified of an act of access device fraud at 4 p.m. Jan. 10.

Police said the victim, Joseph Earl Staboleski, 59, no address given, reported the incident that occurred at a location on Route 14 in Alba.

According to police, Huff obtained the victim's credit card number and made a major purchase from Overstock.com. Police said they traced the purchase and identified Huff.

Mailbox stolen

Earl Lee Brown, 51, no address given, reported a stolen mailbox to state police at Towanda.

Brown told police that a white Pennysaver mailbox with Penn State written on the side was stolen from the end of his driveway sometime between 12:01 a.m. and 8 a.m. Jan. 11 in the 300 block of Greenbough Road in Troy Township.

Leslie Debach, no age given, of Troy told state police at Towanda that someone took her black mailbox from her property sometime between 5:30 p.m. Jan. 10 and 3:30 p.m. Jan. 11 on Leona Road in Springfield Township.
