DUI charges

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Cody A. Varga, 25, of Columbia Cross Roads, by Sayre Borough police, on Aug. 18, on North Lehigh Avenue in Sayre. Varga has also been charged with careless driving, failure to keep right, driving with an open container of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia. A blood alcohol test revealed that Varga's blood alcohol content was .20 percent on the day of his arrest. Varga has been sent a summons to appear Oct. 15 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Anthony D. Santi, 29, of Owego, N.Y., by Sayre Borough police, on Sept. 1, off exit 60 of Route 17 in Sayre. Santi has also been charged with careless driving, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. A blood alcohol test revealed that Santi's blood alcohol content was .21 percent on the day of his arrest. Santi has been sent a summons to appear Oct. 22 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Robert L. Strope, 41, of Nichols, N.Y., by Athens Borough police, on July 4, on North Main Street in Athens. A blood alcohol test revealed that Strope's blood alcohol content was .23 percent on the day of his arrest. Strope has been sent a summons to appear Nov. 5 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Leslie Michael Palumbo, 46, of Sayre, by Athens Borough police, on Sept. 10, on South River Street in Athens. A blood alcohol test revealed that Palumbo's blood alcohol content was .14 percent on the day of his arrest. Palumbo has been sent a summons to appear Nov. 5 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Selena Ann Nogar, 22, of Athens, by Athens Township police, on Sept. 10, on Westbrook Street in Athens Township. Nogar has also been charged with driving with a suspended license, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. A blood alcohol test revealed that Nogar's blood alcohol content was .19 percent on the day of her arrest. Nogar has been sent a summons to appear Nov. 5 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Sayre police seek hit-and-run suspect

Sayre Borough police seek an unknown suspect involved in a Wednesday hit-and-run motor vehicle accident.

According to information from borough police, at an unknown time Wednesday, the actor struck a red Mercury Tracer in the 600 block of North Elmer Avenue. The vehicle that struck the Mercury is believed to be green in color and would have passenger side or front-end damage, police said.

Waverly police investigating burglary

The Waverly Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred Tuesday, according to information from the department.

Police said two subjects entered a local establishment at about 1 a.m. Sept. 17 and damaged machines, taking an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police have posted surveillance video of the incident on the department's Facebook page and ask that anyone with information contact police at (607) 565-2836 or (607) 565-2213 after 5 p.m.

Waverly man charged

A Waverly man was recently arrested by Tioga County, N.Y. sheriff's deputies for failing to register as a sex offender.

According to information from the sheriff's office, David E. Stedge, 47, was arrested following an investigation which found him not physically residing as the address he supplied to the state sex offender registry.

Stedge was arraigned in Barton town court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail on $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond. Stedge was to reappear in court Sept. 17.

Sexual assaults reported

State police at Towanda are investigating reported sexual assaults that occurred over a period of over ten years in Ulster Township.

According to information from state police, three females reported to police that they were sexually assaulted in the township between 1998 and 2010. Investigation is ongoing, police said.

Window broken

State police at Towanda are investigating a case of criminal mischief in Milan.

According to state police information, at about 5 a.m. Sept. 13, an unknown actor or actors broke a window pane at United Rentals on Route 220. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.
