Tioga County Acting District Attorney, Irene C. Graven, reports the following activity in the District Attorney's Office for the week ending May 17.

The following defendants were sentenced in Tioga County Court as follows:

On May 3, 2013, Clarence E. Decker, Jr. of Owego, New York was sentenced to ten months in the Tioga County Jail for a violation of his probation for Aggravated Unlicensed Operator in the First Degree.

Travis J. Shabazz of Elmira, N.Y. was sentenced to two to four years as a second felony offender for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree.

On May 6, 2013, the Tioga County Grand Jury handed up 29 indictments to County Court.

Kevin Tyreman of Endicott, N.Y. was sentenced to one to three years in State Prison for Grand Larceny 3rd, D felony, after an unsuccessful discharge from Drug Treatment Court.

Sierra Cottrill of Newark Valley, N.Y. was sentenced to one to three years in state prison after an unsuccessful discharge from drug treatment court.

Sarah Smith of Nichols, N.Y. was sentenced to three years of probation for Petit Larceny after successfully completing drug treatment court.

On May 13, 2013, a pre-trial conference was held regarding People v. Calvin Harris. All motions for a change in venue are to be filed with the Appellate Division by the end of June. The court has scheduled a pre-trial conference for Sept. 12, 2013 with an anticipated trial date to be set in October 2013 if the trial remains in Tioga County.

On May 14, 2013, Acting District Attorney Irene Graven attended a program at The Elks regarding youth and drug awareness.
