CANTON TWP. - A two-vehicle accident that took place Wednesday morning in Canton Township sent several people to the hospital.

Canton Fire Chief J. Scott May said the crash occurred in the eastbound lane of Route 414, at the intersection of McFadden Road. He said a car was waiting to turn onto McFadden Road, and was struck in the rear by a Dodge Ram pick-up truck.

The fire department was dispatched at 11:46 a.m.

May said the female driver in the car was flown by medical helicopter to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre while four people in the truck were taken by ambulance to the hospital.

This included a male driver, a female front seat passenger, and two children in the back, he said.

Both vehicles were destroyed, according to the fire chief.

They came to rest against each other.

No names of the injured were available.

An eyewitness, Marvin Brown, described what he saw at the time of the collision as a "big ball of dust or smoke."
