Damages in Elkland Twp. criminal mischief case could exceed $350,000
A vandal or vandals recently damaged five vehicles at a construction site for a gas pipeline in Elkland Township, Sullivan County, causing damage that could exceed $350,000, state police said.
The vandalism occurred sometime between 6:55 p.m. Saturday and 6:54 a.m. Monday at a site at the intersection of Hill Road and state Route 4008 that is used by Precision Pipeline of Eau Claire, Wisc., for the storage and maintenance of equipment used to construct pipelines.
A vandal or vandals entered a Caterpillar 336D excavator at the site, started it, and proceeded to damage three excavators and two side booms, police said.
While an exact value of the damages has not yet been determined, they could exceed $350,000, state police at Laporte said in a press release that they issued on Tuesday.
