TROY - Get ready to rock this summer.

Daughtry is coming to the Troy Fair at Alparon Park in Troy.

On its Facebook page, the Troy Fair has announced Daughtry as the act for its big concert on Wednesday, July 25.

"We wanted to offer something different," said Troy Fair President Cathy Jenkins. "Daughtry has never played in our area; he usually plays big venues like Syracuse or Hershey." She noted that Daughtry is a rock act.

She thinks the concert will be a change of pace, as most of the concerts in the area are country music.

"It's a huge show for our fair, we are excited to have an act this big come to the Troy Fair."

"We are already getting a lot of response," Jenkins said.

According to Jenkins, more information will be available about the concert in the future.

The fair's Facebook page notes the following ticket options:

- VIP Reserved Seating - $65

- GOLD Reserved Seating (on track) - $55

- Reserved Grandstands - $45

- Standing Room/General Admission - $45

According to the announcement:

Ticket prices do not include gate admission. Parking is free. Ticket prices increase $5 each after July 22. There are no refunds/no exchanges. Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. May 15.

Daughtry's website offers this information about the entertainer:

"In the course of only five years, Chris Daughtry has had more than his share of career highlights. The singer, songwriter, and musician from North Carolina has released back-to-back No. 1 albums, the 4x-platinum 'Daughtry' (which became the fastest-selling rock debut in Soundscan history) and 2009's platinum Leave This Town. Daughtry has scored four No. 1 Top 40 hits ("It's Not Over, 'Home,' 'Feels Like Tonight,' and 'No Surprise'), earned four Grammy Award nominations (including 'Best Rock Album' for 'Daughtry'), won four American Music Awards, and brought its electrifying live show to all corners of the world, including sold-out arenas in South Africa, Singapore, and The Philippines."
