The Sayre Public Library is partnering with the Guthrie Clinic Diabetes Center for a free seminar on diabetes prevention and risk assessment.

At 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, Jennifer Riley, RN, CDE, Guthrie Clinic Diabetes Center program coordinator, will present the session in conjunction with the 22nd Annual American Diabetes Association Alert Day. The goal of this campaign is to reach out to the undiagnosed population with life-saving information about type 2 diabetes risk and prevention. The seminar will focus on the diabetes risk test and diabetes prevention resources.

According to the American Diabetes Association, type 2 diabetes can be prevented or delayed by losing just 5 to 7 percent of body weight through regular physical activity (30 minutes a day, five days a week) and healthy eating. For people who have already been diagnosed with diabetes - whether they have type 1 or type 2 diabetes - these same lifestyle changes can make huge differences in their diabetes management.

The Sayre Public Library has been providing outstanding service to Sayre Borough since 1936. Please note, although the program is free and open to the public, space is limited and registration is required. Register at the library or call the library at (570) 888-2256. The library is located at 122 S. Elmer Ave. Sayre Public Library is a Bradford County United Way recipient agency.
