Review Photo/ERIC HRIN Christopher Pike from Ulster, lead investigator of Phenomenon and Paranormal Investigations, talks to the audience Monday at the Bradford County Library in West Burlington Township.

WEST BURLINGTON TWP. - "From the moment you arrive, you get instant creeps."

That's how Christopher Pike from Ulster, lead investigator of Phenomenon and Paranormal Investigations (PPI), describes The Old Methodist Church in West Burlington, which he calls "a very intriguing place" on his group's Web site.

He and others with PPI presented a program on their work Monday at the Bradford County Library. Their Web site is www.ppiinvestigations.com.

They investigated the church on April 24, and Pike played video and sound clips of the investigation for the audience, which numbered more than 50 people.

In the audio clip, a few loud bangs or knocks, as Pike describes them, can be heard "sounding through the church from time to time."

He can be heard in the audio clip saying, "If there is someone in this church right now, please make a noise."

"Right after I said that there were three sounds ... 'clink clack clink' ... It almost sounded like water when I heard it with my own ears," he notes in his report.

The sounds were played for the audience at the library.

He also showed a video clip, which showed a white "floating" object near the bottom of screen that he said is an orb. The investigators believe it may be paranormal. But whether it is dust, or a ghostly figure is uncertain, they noted.

Jeff Singer, director of the library, said 55 people attended. He said it was a forum where people didn't have to be embarrassed to talk about the paranormal.

He said the investigators aren't "judgmental."

Regarding the church, Pike noted in his report, "Our team deems this church haunted." He told the audience that why the church is haunted is unknown.

"There are just too many things that have happened and I truly believe that an entity or entities inhabit the grounds. What kind of entity or who this spirit is, is unknown."

I respectfully disagree with the people who say a church can't be haunted. It doesn't matter what the buildings purpose is, if paranormal visitors want to be there, they are going to be there, house of God or not! Being someone who experiences the paranormal on a daily basis,...it's not far fetched at all!

read this again slowy who esle thinks this kid tells great stories. anyone with a brain in they're head knows a church can not be haunted its GOD's house the only spirit present there is his. and he most certainly does not like the fact that this boy is digging around in places of rest like cemeteries. or saying his house (GODS) house is haunted....spirits don't just answer you like he is stating they did, sounds like him and his friends thought it would be cool to get everyone going and make this all up.
i really hope nobody pays this kid for his work, because they are wasting they're money. look at his website he has had no formal training in this what so ever, he doesn't know what he is doing, there for can't determine weather anything is haunted or just old.
the wind would explain the nosies. and its a old building so dust and lighting explain the white figure "floating". maybe its just me but i think this kid has watched one too many shows of ghost haunters.

I have visited the church numerous times as a visitor and volunteer doing maintenance. The guest book lists visitors from all around the country. In the past there has been general respect for this house of worship but during a visit last Monday I noticed someone has scrawled a 'satanic' pentagram on the wall. Due to websites like PPI's negative attention is being given to this historic church building and their publicity is drawing people who are not interested in it's true purpose or history. EXPECT increased vandalism now. Is it time for the Methodist Church leaders to start locking the building and arranging visits by appointment only? I hope not, but it seems inevitable.
(By the way PPI, the church pops and creaks just like any old building. Applying your 'research' standards would mean the pit toilets at Mt. Pisgah County Park are haunted also.)

Oh please. That church is ancient. There's enough holes in the floorboards and enough wind on that hill to explain the noises. I've been in there several times. Nothing to explain other than it's an old building.

There's a multi-million dollar prize out there waiting for the first person to provide any true evidence of anything paranormal, psychic, or anything of the sort that can't be explained by already understood laws of science. It's been waiting a long time.
