Derrick Marsh Iddings, 27, of Dushore is accused of stealing more than $13,000 worth of antique items from a property in Stevens Township earlier this year, police said.
The items belong to Brady Bryner, 58, of Mifflin, Pa., police said.
The stolen items included antique furniture, clocks, bedding and other household items, state police said.
One of the items stolen was a blanket chest dating from 1767, state police at Towanda said.
Iddings had entered Bryner's property in Stevens Township sometime between Feb. 15 and May 25 and stole the items, police said. The property is located along state Route 1001, approximately one-tenth of a mile north of state Route 706, police said.
Iddings told police that he went to the property with an individual from Potterville, according to a criminal complaint against Iddings that the state police filed in Wysox District Court.
The case broke on Sunday when Bryner told the state police that he had located the blanket chest on sale at the Country Sampler antique store in Sylvania, police said.
The chest was being sold by Daniel Kithcart of Ulster, police said.
Iddings had furnished the chest to Kithcart, who was selling it on consignment, police said.
Kithcart told police that Iddings had told him that he had found the chest in his grandfather's attic when he passed away, according to the criminal complaint.
Iddings told police that he did give the chest to Kithcart to sell, according to the criminal complaint. Iddings also told the state police that he could not recall where he obtained the chest, according to the criminal complaint.
However, Iddings later admitted to the state police that he took the chest from an abandoned house near Stevensville, according to the criminal complaint.
Numerous other items belonging to Bryner were also located in Iddings' apartment, police said.
As a result of this incident, Iddings was charged with burglary, theft by unlawful taking or disposition, and receiving stolen property, police said.
Iddings was arraigned before a magisterial district judge at midnight on Sunday night. Iddings was then sent to the Bradford County jail in lieu of $30,000 bail.
Iddings must face the charges at a preliminary hearing before Wysox Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton on Aug. 11.
