Electronics collected for recycling in Athens
ATHENS - Keyboards, televisions, scanners and other items were delivered at Athens High School Saturday.
But it wasn't the district ordering new supplies.
Rather, people were bringing in old electronics items for a senior project by student Stevie-Lynn Ellard. She had a whole truckload full.
Proceeds benefit the Abuse and Rape Crisis Center in Towanda.
The cost was $5 a car load.
"I'm working through the IT Department here at Athens, and the electronics are going to be recycled up at the recycling center, which is part of the Lewisburg Penitentiary System," she said.
She chose to have the proceeds go to the ARCC because she wants to enter the criminal justice field.
"I figured the best place to send the money to would be the ARCC."
