LEROY TWP. - Leroy Township supervisors are pleased with some energy improvements recently made at the township garage on Route 414.

The township received a $796.50 energy improvement grant through the Northern Tier Regional Planning & Development Commission, according to supervisor Jason Krise.

The improvements were discussed at this week's township meeting.

He said the money allowed the township to update the lighting in the township garage on Route 414 and make it more energy efficient.

"We put in new energy efficient light bulbs and outlets," he said.

Supervisor Ted Tomlison thought the changes were making a difference.

"I think it's having an effect on the light bill already," he told the supervisors.

Roadmaster Jared Wilcox and Krise agreed.

"We lucked out," Tomlinson said. "I think that was a really good move."

The grant covered the cost for materials, and the township was responsible for labor and installation, Krise said. He said the township fronted the cost, and was reimbursed.

The improvements were made around late September or early October, he said.
