A motorcycle accident, which occurred over the weekend in Terry Township, claimed the life of a Clarks Summit man, police said.

The accident occurred as David A. Gardner, 64, was driving a 2014 BMW F800GS motorcycle north on North Street, police said.

Gardner was traveling downhill and entering a left curve in the roadway when a deer came out into the road and struck Gardner's right side, police said.

Gardner lost control of his motorcycle and laid the motorcycle down on its left side, state police at Towanda said.

Gardner and the motorcycle continued north for approximately 100 feet and came to rest in the southbound lane, police said.

Gardner was flown by emergency medical helicopter to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, police said. Gardner was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

The accident occurred at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, 656 feet from Marshview Road, police said.
