TROY - Firefighters responded to a house fire Monday night behind the Martha Lloyd property in Troy off U.S. Route 6..

Troy Fire Chief Roy Vargson said he was "leaning toward electrical" for the cause of the fire at the two-story home. The call was received at 7:55 p.m.

"The inside of the house is destroyed," he said.

According to Vargson, firefighters had the fire under control in around an hour.

When they got there, he said, the fire was "pretty well fully involved inside."

He said the house is owned by Bob Storch, and it's an apartment house that's rented out. The family that rented the house wasn't at home at the time of the fire, and was in Mansfield, he said.

"The tenant had just got home and he saw the glow in the window when he got here," he said.

However, a dog was killed in the fire, Vargson said.

Troy, Canton and South Creek fire companies were at the scene.

Boldness must arise locally to save roads

It's nearly spring and the secondary roads here are in poor shape. Some of the main roads, as well. It's an annual occurrence. But, this year there is a dramatic difference. More roads are in far worse shape than perhaps ever before, in large part becau
