CAMPTOWN - A fire early Tuesday destroyed the home of Scott and Cheryl Keeney, which is located off Herrickville Road in Wyalusing Township.

The Keeneys were asleep when the fire broke out at approximately 2 a.m., but were able to escape from their home uninjured, Wyalusing Fire Chief Adam Dietz said.

"They told me that their smoke alarms woke them up," Dietz said.

Dietz said that he was the first firefighter to arrive on scene, and found the house already engulfed in flames.

The Keeneys "lost everything but the clothes on their back and their pickup truck," the fire chief said.

The fire has been ruled accidental, the fire chief said. However, he said it would be up to the Keeneys to decide if they wanted to release the exact cause of the blaze.

Dietz would only say that the fire started "on the outside of the home, in front of the structure."

Dietz said he believes the Keeneys have insurance on the home.

No one was injured fighting the fire, the chief said.

The house is located on a wooded hill near Camptown.

Besides the Wyalusing Fire Company, there were firefighters on scene from the Wilmot, LeRaysville, Herrickville, Laceyville and Wysox fire companies, he said.
