Flood repairs on routes 154 and 87 in Sullivan County start next week
Montoursville - A $489,000 flood-recovery contract that will include repairs to routes 154 and 87 in Sullivan County is scheduled to start on Monday, Oct. 24.
The work by Minichi, Inc. will take place at three different locations.
Work on Route 154 will be along Loyalsock Creek across from the Sullivan County Fairgrounds at Forksville. The majority of the eastbound lane and shoulder was lost during recent flood events. The work will consist of reconstructing the lane and placement of rock protection along the creek bank.
Once the road work is completed, the roadway will be reopened to traffic, which is expected by mid-November. In the meantime, motorists are reminded to obey the closed-road signs.
Additional work on Route 154 is at the bridge over Loyalsock Creek at Worlds End State Park involving debris removal under and on top of the structure, underpinning and jacketing of the abutment scour, replacing the handrail, and the sidewalk along the northwest corner.
The work on Route 87 in Colley Township is to place rock to stabilize the shoulder and roadway along Mehoopany creek.
All work under this contract is scheduled for completion by mid-January.
