Nathan Canfield and his mother Linda Bahr participated in a Parent Exchange Program held yesterday at the Troy High School. According to high school Principal Paul Ulrich, the program was geared at encouraging more parent involvement in student education.

Santa and Mary Callear took a trip through Sayre during the Holiday Glow celebration yesterday. The pair was riding in a "Rein Deere" tractor, driving by Jack Rounds.

The study of the Towanda Borough Police Department performed by the state's Department of Community Affairs (DCA) criticized several department policies and recommended several avenues to rectify the situations. Towanda's Mayor Dewitt Hild requested DCA perform the study, saying "sometimes you sit on top of a problem and can't see it."

50 years ago - 1963

History was made in Towanda yesterday as the newly finished St. Agnes School was formally dedicated as a replacement for the old school which served the area for 65 years.

Retiring New Albany mail carrier Edgar "Ted" Bird was honored at a party given for him by the patrons of RD3, who he has served for nearly half-a-century.

Mrs. W.P. Fitzgerald has returned to her home at 28 Main St. here after spending the past month in New York.

Towanda High School's basketball season gets underway tonight on the local court when the Orange and Black take on visiting Orwell. Coach Sheffy indicated that he would probably state Carlisle Wood and Bobby Finn at forwards, with McDonald or Ralph Allen at center. Don Brennan and Elting Johnson at guards.
