25 years ago - 1987

Winners of the 1986 Conservation Photo Contest were recently selected by a panel of judges for the Bradford County Conservation District. Ted Keir of Athens received first place, June Crawford of New Albany received second place and Nadine Brinton of Granville Summit was selected for third place.

The Orwell Township Board of Supervisors held their reorganization meeting recently with the following officers elected for 1987: chairman, Calvin Brink; vice chairman Lyle Cooley; third member and road foreman Elmer Moore; and Doris S. Moore was appointed secretary-treasurer.

Celebrating his 92nd birthday today is R.D. Fitch of Canton.

50 years ago - 1962

Effective Jan. 30, the Towanda sub-station of the Pennsylvania State Police will be relocated on U.S. Route 220 near the intersection of Routes 6 and 220 directly across the highway from the Orchard Park Motel.

Kenneth Taylor has been named Wyalusing Valley High School's 1962 winner of the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award as evidence of superior scientific aptitude.

Kenneth Williams, principal of Wyalusing Valley High School, this past week was named to the executive committee of the Pennsylvania Branch of Secondary School Principals.

75 years ago - 1937

Celebrating his birthday today is Clarence Fish, manager of the American store in Wyalusing.

Dr. David E. Kaufman of Towanda has purchased a winter home near Miami Beach, Fla.

Basketball teams representing the Northern Pennsylvania Power Co. and Wysox rule the roost in the City League this morning as the result of conquests they achieved last evening in another round of tournament games played on the SCI court before the largest crowd of the season to date.
