Miss Anna Cox, daughter of Mrs. Delilah Cox of Dushore, has been given the prominent role of Mrs. Zedorah Chapman in the East Stroudsburg State Teachers College's production of Elmer Rice's "Counsellor at Law."
The Sullivan County Potato Growers group was the guest of Elkland Township's newly organized FFA chapter.
Entries are being accepted for a harmonica and old fiddlers contest, to be held at the upcoming country fair at St. Agnes Hall.
50 years ago - 1959
At Towanda Valley High School during their lunch hours, students are now allowed to dance in the hall in front of the gym.
Canton resident Dennis May has taken over the automotive service station in Towanda, at the corner of Main and Lombard streets, and the business will be called May's Amoco Station.
LeRaysville is losing its only doctor, Dr. Henry P. Brown, and is looking for a replacement.
75 years ago - 1934
Penelec officials released an architect's rendering of the new proposed headquarters intended to be built in Towanda.
On display in several Valley businesses are paintings by Valley Art Society members.
Two new directors were appointed to the Bradford County Humane Society Board of Directors: Martin Rinebold of Gillett and Jessie Goeltz of Sayre.

2008 - Iraq's Cabinet overwhelmingly approves a security pact with the United States, ending prolonged negotiations to allow American forces to remain for three more years in the country they first occupied in 2003.
