On Nov. 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was shot to death during a motorcade in Dallas; Texas Gov. John B. Connally, in the same open car as the president, was seriously wounded. A suspect in the shooting, Lee Harvey Oswald, was later arrested.

Carol DeLauro of Troy was the recent People's Choice Award Winner for her color photograph entitled "How Sweet It Is" at the 12th annual Photography Exhibit at the Bradford County Library.
The Towanda Black Knight cross country team captured the NTL championship this past season putting together a perfect 10-0 record. The Knights, coached by Chuck Simcoe, added a championship at the "League" meeting.
Tim Spencer's 66-yard catch and run of a Sean Tymeson pass for a touchdown with 2:35 to play in the game gave the Canton Warriors a 12-6 victory over the Muncy Indians in a District Four, Class A semi-final game yesterday.

The Retail Board of Trade of the Chamber of Commerce is planning to circulate a questionnaire this week to the retail merchants of Towanda to ascertain their desires concerning opening of the stores evenings during holiday shopping.
Canton High School's football team became undisputed champions of the West Branch conference over the weekend.
The annual Charity Ball for the benefit of Towanda's Visiting Nurse Association will be held at the Towanda Community Center Dec. 29. On the committee are John J. Moore, Fred W. Reuter and H.M. Turner.
