John C. Mott is ready to step into his robe and role as Bradford County's second judge, having collected 13,507 votes in his unopposed general election bid.
After an 80 percent voter turnout, Sullivan County Democrats came out on top in county offices following the unofficial count by the election board two days ago. Pamela Kravitz Arthur (D) was top vote-getter for the county commissioners race with a total of 1,592 votes. Following commissioner-elect Arthur to fill the other two commissioner's seats were Theodore Saul (R) with 1,328 votes and former commissioner Richard McCarty (R) with a total of 1,250.
The Rob Wood Mountain Gun Club met recently and elected new officers. They are President Bobby Vanderpool, Vice President Michael Bride, Secretary Kevin Barrett and Treasurer Albert Vanderpool.
50 years ago - 1962
Heavy, wet snow which began falling in Bradford County and vicinity about noon Nov. 3 piled up about eight inches in a storm that caught the area, as well as much of the state, by surprise.
Celebrating his birthday today is Gerald Moran of Towanda, a vice president of the Sylvania Electric Products Corp. and head of its establishment in Towanda.
This year driver education classes at Towanda High School are driving a 1963 Chevrolet Biscayne furnished by Perry Chevrolet Inc. of East Towanda.
75 years ago - 1937
Robot infra-red light beam "watchmen" are one of the new mechanisms by which highway engineers now keep a 24-hour watch on roads where changes are needed. One of these is now in operation on the Hornbrook Road near the Griggs farm.
B.A. Cranmer of Monroeton, who will be 100 years of age next February, voted Nov. 2 at the polling place in his home district. He is believed to have been the oldest man in the county to vote that day.
Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Carrington of Potterville, is in New York attending the national poultry exposition as a member of the State College judging team.

One year ago: Former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky, accused of molesting eight boys, was arrested and released on $100,000 bail after being arraigned on 40 criminal counts.
