John and Laura Ford of the Bradford County Manor are celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary today.
Troy's Karen Edsell paced a number of fine Northern Tier League finishes at State College yesterday in the PIAA Cross Country Championships. Edsell's 15th-place finish was the top among 22 NTL competitors as she wrote the final chapter in an exciting cross country season. Her finish earned her "state" recognition in this, her first trip to the state finals.
50 years ago - 1962
At the regular meeting of the Northeast Bradford Joint School Board, reorganization was the main topic of discussion. After study was made of the various plans submitted, the board voted to accept the single-unit plan as their first choice and the three-unit plan as their second choice.
Celebrating his birthday today is Clinton W. Swank of Towanda, shepherd of the Third Ward school children at the York Avenue crossing. This is Clint's task in retirement. At one time he was foreman at Frost factory in Towanda and later he operated a confection shop in the Mercur Block.
Troy Community Elementary Schools have completed the Pass, Punt, Kick program and the first place winners are: age 7 group, Grant Gustin, Troy; age 8 group, Steven Clark of Granville; age 9 group, David Jackson, Springfield; age 10 group, Lynn White, Troy; age 11 group, Tommy Gordon of Gillett.
