The first round of the seventh annual Scholarship Challenge is completed, sending last year's champion, Horseheads High School, along with Tioga Central to the finals on March 7.
There will be a computer validation session on Feb. 9, 11 and 18 at the Waverly Free Library. The library has an Apple IIe microcomputer for public use available to patrons with a library card.
Jodi Crawford of Grover, the local 4-6 grade winner in the Sharitz Bus Safety Post Contest, has won first place in the Pennsylvania competition and second place in the national competition.
50 years ago - 1962
The first of three Agindustrial Conferences for a seven-county area, of which Bradford County is a part, was held recently at Williamsport. There was an attendance of more than 200, of whom 30 were from Bradford County.
Residents of the Wilmot Drive area are worrying these days over something besides the wintry weather. There's a strange animal which has been seen several times of late and which answers the description of a mountain lion.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Remsnyder were married 16 years ago today.

The addition of a new line of washers at Middaugh's was announced yesterday by J. Macklem Perkins, proprietor of this well-known local business place. Perkins stated that the line of Easy Damp-Dryer Washers is now being carried at the store.
Having already sent two cars of relief materials to the flood victims in the Ohio and Mississippi Valleys, officers of the Bradford County Chapter of the American Red Cross are now busily engaged getting a load together for the third.
A steam shovel has been in operation at Silvara during the past week doing flood control work.
