The Wyalusing Borough Council was met with 200-plus signatures on a petition filed by concerned citizens at their meeting held last night. Wyalusing residents united this weekend and drew up a petition in protest of any further action by council with PennDOT officials on a decision for the Routes 6, 706 project.
At a recent reorganizational meeting of the Asylum Township Supervisors, James Stevens was named chairman, Kevin Barrett vice chairman, and Ralph E. Kissell as member.
Taking a lesson from the big boys, it was the Waverly Wolverines who captured the Northern Tier League junior varsity wrestling tournament held over the weekend.
50 years ago - 1962
The Towanda Valley American Field Service committee met at the high school yesterday afternoon to dismiss methods for raising the $650 necessary to sponsor a foreign exchange student at Towanda Valley High School during the 1962-63 school year.
Little Mansfield, Pa., (population 2,684) is fast becoming one of the hottest basketball centers in the East. Mansfield State College is tied for first in the fiercely competitive, well-balanced eastern division of the State Colleges Conference, and the Mansfield High School team is 14-0.
Sayre High's Redskins just about sewed up the Roosevelt Trail League basketball championship for another season last night by defeating the Troy High cagers 75-63.

Seen about the borough: A greeting card that was mailed to Towanda the day before Christmas being delivered to its receiver, a local resident, just 38 days later.
The East Smithfield Odd Fellows Lodge will honor one of the oldest and most faithful of its members on Feb. 6. At this time, Ernest O. Gerould will observe his 45th year of Odd Fellowship, having been initiated Feb. 6, 1892.
With a quota of $50 to fill, the people of East Smithfield have "gone over the top" in the Red Cross drive for flood relief funds. The total collected here to date is $142.40.
