At the Towanda High School football team's annul banquet yesterday, team members were honored with special awards. Chris Jennings received the Outstanding Back and Clutch Award, Gordie Bull received the Thomas Mahoney Award, Henry Dunn received the Coach's Award and Jay Martin received the Outstanding Lineman award.
Karen Kunkle, a student at Northeast Bradford High School, has been selected to represent her school at the Hugh O'Brien Leadership Seminar.

50 years ago - 1963
Pennsylvania's Northern Tier will be the subject of advertisements to be placed in national newspapers, including The Wall Street Journal, tomorrow.
Thomas Palumbo of Towanda High School won first place last night in the annual speaking contest held by the Towanda Branch of the American Association of University Women.
High triple in Towanda bowling during the past week was turned in by Glenn Case, who bowled a flashy 652 in the Thursday 7 p.m. League at the Sport Shop.
75 years ago - 1938
Towanda's two Brownie Packs over the weekend arranged a unique display of soap carvings at the public library where they will remain for a week. An Eskimo village and a circus are depicted very realistically.
The Sayre High School cagers, champions of the SVIAA, journey to Williamsport tonight to meet the Coal Township team in District 4 PIAA finals.
Celebrating her 16th birthday today is Joan Law, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J.A. Law of Towanda. She is a junior in Towanda High School, editor of the school publication "The Oriole," she was voted the "most athletic girl in school" and she is tied for high score on the girls' rifle team.
