25 years ago - 1985

The Canton DAR Good Citizen Award was presented to Angela Wooster.

Wendy LaMont, Bradford County Dairy Princess, recently visited the Croman Elementary School in Troy to promote milk and good nutrition.

Recognized for their prize-winning entries in an essay contest sponsored by the DAR were the following students from St. Agnes school: Eileen Brubaker, Michael Henson, Christopher Chamberlain, Aimee Kasenga, Anthony Tama, Thomas Boyd, Charles Kovacs and Scott Kasenga.

50 years ago - 1960

Leroy H. Brown of Towanda, teacher of mathematics at Towanda Valley High School, has been awarded a scholarship to attend Pennsylvania State University for the year under the sponsorship of the National Science Foundation Institute.

Celebrating his birthday today is Thomas P. Miller, well-known mortician.

The sixth grade class of Ridgebury Township School visited the Corning Glass Museum in Corning, N.Y., accompanied by Richard Conklin, principal of the school.

75 years ago - 1935

About 50 boys of the school patrols sponsored by the Lackawanna Motor Club were treated to a picture show through cooperation of Manager William C. Woodin of the Keystone Theatre with the motor club. The boys enjoyed "David Copperfield" very much.

At the Tioga County N.Y. Bar Association meeting, Robert V.R. Bassett of Owego was chosen president to succeed Francis J. Clohessy of Waverly.

Corporal Leo Pope, in command of the state police detail in Towanda, was recalled to the Wyoming Barracks for strike duty.
