Troy area archers Tod Everts, Jeremy Castle, Todd Barrett and Toby Everts all placed this weekend during the annual Hunters Education state competition held in Bear Creek.
Sayre Borough Council approved a zoning ordinance that could allow the Star Savings and Loan Association to build a bank on the area located between Lockhart and Allison streets and Wilbur Avenue in Sayre.
Julie Hemstreet and Janet Etkie, two deaf students from Gallaudet University, Washington, D.C., were passing through Wysox Sunday as part of a cross-country bicycle trip to raise money for the Ronald McDonald houses. While on route, the two girls spotted Shannon Wheeler, who is also hearing impaired, "signing" (using sign language) to communicate with her friend Jenny Jayne, who can hear. The cyclists approached the Bradford County teens and all enjoyed a lively conversation, during which the travelers' destination and trip purpose were learned.

Plans are completed for the Knights of Columbus sponsored Endless Mountains First Invitational Sky Divers Contest at the Towanda airport on Sunday. Jumping is scheduled to start at noon, with members from four clubs participating. Sky divers from Reading, Elmira, the Canyon Sky Divers of Wellsboro and the Endless Mountain Sky Divers will display their skills all Sunday afternoon.
The LeRoy Sixth Grade Commencement exercises were held Monday evening, June 3 in the LeRoy Baptist Church. After the processional of students, school board members and speakers Rev. Paul Dale gave the invocation. Roger Rockwell of the sixth grade gave the welcome address. Albert Wrisley, elementary principal, congratulated the class on its efforts. District Attorney Maurice Epstein congratulated the graduating class and said he felt honored to be invited to attend their commencement as it was the first he had the privileged of attending.
The Towanda unit of the American Legion Auxiliary, in session at the Legion Hom Tuesday evening, elected the following officers for the coming year: President, Mrs. Lucillle Lewis; first vice-president Mrs. Dorothea Driscoll, second vice-president Mrs. Sara Maskarenic; secretary Mrs. Margaret Remsnyder; Treasurer Mrs. Hellen Hoffman; Historian Mrs. Gwen Hambley.

Degree of Pocohontas has postponed their supper from Wednesday night until a later date. Members will be present from some of the other councils. Members not solicited, please bring sandwiches.
The annual Spring meeting of the Bradford County Council of Republican Women is to be held at the court house here tomorrow morning, convening at 11 o'clock sharp. All members of the Council are urged to attend since officers are to be elected and plans made for the upcoming months which are sure to be full of opportunity for politically minded women. An invitation has been extended to all Republican women, whether members of the Council or not, to attend the meeting, which is certain to be an inspirational one.
Walton VanFleet received a serious cut at East Canton Friday when a circular saw came loose from the shaft and hit him on the knee, almost severing the knee cap. He was given first aid by Dr. C.M. Bradford of Canton and removed to the Robert Packer Hospital at Sayre for Treatment.
