Motorists traveling via Route 6 should take note of a handsome new billboard just outside Tunkhannock. Erected on behalf of the Towanda Area Chamber of Commerce, the billboard was financed by the group to help promote the area's many fine assets.
Duane Eddy, who is, according to his promotional material, one of the biggest-selling instrumentalists in the history of rock 'n' roll, just dropped by to visit Towanda last weekend. While here, he joined others of his local relations from the Eddy clan at Hugo's Grove for the annual Laquin reunion.
Building projects will again be under way in Sayre Borough as the state Department of Environmental Resources is lifting its ban on expansion.
75 years ago - 1937
The Lackawanna Motor Club yesterday installed a new direction sign in the point of the triangle formed by the junction of York Avenue and Main Street. The sign has an arrow pointing the direction of Route 6 and reading "Troy, Mansfield, Wellsboro, Erie."
The well which has been driven to augment the borough water supply in times of shortage has been completed and the electric pump installed, and now the town is just waiting for a dry spell to see what it's worth.
The runway on the Towanda airport was given its last coating of tar yesterday and now it is completely macadamized and ready for use by airplanes, and not by automobiles.
