Winning first place in log rolling at the Penn-York Woodsmen's Carnival were Robert Swingle and Vinette Alderson of LeRaysville, who rolled a 20-foot log a distance of 40 feet in 40 seconds.
The Yankee Rebels of Baltimore won the 10th annual Waverly American Legion Tournament of Drums recently. The event was attended by about 6,000 people at the Waverly Memorial Stadium.

The annual school bus inspection in Bradford County will take place on Aug. 12-14. Boards are asked to notify bus drivers to be at the place designated within the hours specified in order that all school busses may be inspected.
Tonight at 8 p.m. the Franklin Fire Company will initiate a class of 67 new members, obtained during a drive conducted by teams captained by William T. Brennan and John H. Cook.
D.J. Storch of Binghamton will give a demonstration on fire control this morning at 9 in back of the courthouse, which will consist of setting his car afire and then putting out the blaze.
