The Troy School Board approved a budget of $12.9 million for the 1988/89 school year. Linda Everts, business manager, said the budget has increases 7.9 percent from last year, which was due to salary and benefit increases.
The Towanda Women's Club held its annual banquet recently at the American Legion in Towanda. The occasion marked the 43rd year of service in the local area for club members.
St. Agnes held commencement for its eighth grade students on Saturday. Among the graduates include Kimberly Lantz, Mary Rosencrance, Michelle Lenox, Victoria Green, Katherine Ward, Edward Flynn, Ronald Newman, Julie Ferri, Philip Hogan, Aime Kasenga, Jennifer Dunn, and Damien Ramondo.

Viola McQueen of Milan, who works in the ASC office in Towanda, was second runner-up in the state finals of the Dairy Princess Contest conducted in Wilkes-Barre.
Two Towanda Methodist girls received coveted God and Community Award of the Girl Scouts in church Sunday morning. They were Sharon McEntire, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don McEntire, and Mary Jane Young, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rebecca Young.
George Lewis and Bob Farley and their committee will start cooking chicken at 4:30 Sunday morning in preparation for the 1100 expected to attend this year's big picnic and barbecue of Ss Peter and Paul Parish.
