On March 1, 1932, Charles A. Lindbergh Jr., the 20-month-old son of Charles and Anne Lindbergh, was kidnapped from the family home near Hopewell, N.J. (Remains identified as those of the child were found the following May.)

25 years ago - 1985

Two Towanda High School students, Amy Robinson and Brian Gallew, are participating in the Region IV Chorus Festival in Loyalsock.

Lieutenant Governor William Scranton III will be the guest speaker at the Endless Mountains Association's annual dinner meeting.

Dr. John Pacanowski, M.D., F.A.A.P., chief of pediatrics at the Guthrie Clinic and Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, will soon begin a three-week national tour for his book "Childhood Symptoms," co-authored by Edward R. Brace of Towanda.

50 years ago - 1960

Sayre Borough Council adopted a resolution approving a sewer collection system for Sayre and a joint treatment plant with Athens.

Two Bradford County babies were born yesterday, Feb. 29, making them leap-year babies: a son to Thomas and Joyce Blakeley of Athens and a son to Leon and Donna Vaow Robinson of Wysox.

At the PIAA wrestling tournament in Towanda, each of the finalist wrestlers was provided with a "queen" by vote of the Towanda High Mat Squad. At the start of the tournament, there was a parade of champions when all marched around the gym accompanied by a queen. The queens then sat around the wrestlers during the evening.

75 years ago - 1935

Celebrating his birthday today is Kenneth Taylor, manager of a well-known service station in Wyalusing.

Troy Rotary Club met today with 100 percent attendance. The guest of the meeting was Carl Millward, superintendent of schools at Milton and governor of the 51st Rotary district.

J.P. McCarthy will re-open his dance hall in North Towanda. The floor has been re-finished and is in first class shape for round and square dancing.
