Members from the Sayre Borough Council met Wednesday afternoon to discuss continuing a dispatch service for the Sayre Police Department, according to Patrick Musto, chairman of the police committee for Sayre Borough Council. The meeting, held at the Waverly Village Annext, was attended by representatives of the Sayre Borough Council and the Waverly Board of Trustees. The meeting's purpose was to negotiate the dispatching service for the Sayre Police Department, whose calls are handled by the Waverly Police Department when the Sayre Borough Hall is closed.
The Towanda Area School District Board of Education yesterday approved Act 84 which requires non-members of the teachers' bargaining unit to pay a "fair share fee" of contract negotiation costs. The motion passed by a 7-1 vote. Budd Clark cast the dissenting vote, saying he doesn't favor "a closed shop."
About 75 individuals, representing various areas of the Canton community, attended a meeting of the Canton Area Chamber of Commerce (CACC) held last night to a review of the community's Rekindle the Spirit Program. The program is centered on the revitalization of Canton's downtown areas, as well as the rest of the community.

Paced by the pile-driving Larry Poter and the fleet-footed Joe May, the Canton High Warriors riddled Towanda High's football team at Memorial Park here Saturday night to win by 32-7.
James E. Green of Towanda has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force upon graduation from Officers Training School in Lackland AFB, Texas.
Mr. and Mrs. William Elliott have moved from 6 Thomas St., to 14 North Main St., the former Jennings home.

Chairman Leo Scholl said last night that booths have been built in St. Agnes Hall, dinner plans completed and "loads" of things already on hand for the big Autumn Festival to be held next week for the benefit of the SS Peter and Paul Parish.
The Fashion Hat shop at 212 Main St., is not expected to open for business this morning, judging from a report made to local police last night by Miss Jane Cavanaugh of 14 Weston St. Miss Cavanaugh declared that after she had closed the place for the night and gone home, the owner came down from Elmira and took out all the merchandise.
