Several Bradford County men have been selected for the 1984 edition of "Outstanding Young Men of America," including Timothy Andrew Geiger of Towanda, Earl William Steele of Towanda, Stephen C. Vincent of Towanda, and Stephan Woodward Bowen of Sayre.
A benefit concert for the Tessa Moyer Scholarship Fund is planned and will feature musicians from Bradford County: Barbara Trowbridge, mezzo-soprano soloist of Towanda, accompanied by Joan Dinse of Rome, and Dr. Robert Allen, baritone soloist and violist of Sayre, accompanied by Dr. Gerald of Athens.
Celebrating his birthday today is Rev. Dave C. Wilkerson, pastor of the Valley Full Gospel Tabernacle in Milan.
50 years ago - 1959
Succeeding Miss Kate Hurley, Nelson Shearer was elected president of the Towanda Ambulance Association. William Berilla was elected vice president.
Five Towanda Valley High School girls were chosen for the homecoming court: Gail Johnston, Carol Baker, Nina Cranmer, Carol Place and Rose Patrician.
John Schoonover III, a member of Boy Scout Troop 5, received the God and Country award, one of the highest awards in scouting.
75 years ago -1934
State College dairy expert Ivan E. Parkin will be giving demonstrations in Bradford County on how to make American Cheese.
The Mansfield State Teachers College's Dramatic Club is putting on a radio drama called "The Quitter," during which Towanda native Carlyle Spencer will perform.
At the meeting of the Wilmot Home and School League, County Superintendent J. Andrew Morrow gave a talk with topics centered on education.
