WYALUSING - The holiday fun and celebrations in Eastern Bradford County won't end on Christmas night.

In fact, the Greater Wyalusing Chamber of Commerce will just be getting warmed up.

The chamber will be sponsoring its fourth annual Hometown Holiday Party on New Year's Eve in the Tuscarora Wayne Community Room, 20 Main St., Wyalusing.

"It's one of the things people really look forward to," said GVCC Executive Director Wendy Gaustad. "People give tickets to the ball to their friends and family as gifts. It's something exciting to do for New Year's Day that's local, so they don't have to drive to Scranton or rent a room in some big hotel for the night.

The night begins with a social hour with appetizers at 6:30 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. dinner provided by "Catering the Wright Way."

Entertainment begins at 8 p.m. with DJ "All About Entertainment," who will offer music and games up to the big event at midnight.

The event is BYOB and the cost is $35 per ticket. Tickets are available by calling (570) 746-1452 by Dec. 20.

The chamber is also excited about its upcoming bi-annual Dinner Meeting, which will be held on Jan. 21 in the community room. The guest speaker this year will be Wanda Shirk, who was a contestant on the CBS program "Survivor" in 2005 when the competition was held in the island nation of Palua. For more information, contact the chamber at (570) 746-4922.

"We're really looking forward to hearing her speak about her experiences," Gaustad said.

And the chamber wishes to remind residents that entries will soon be judged for its gingerbread house decorating contest. The winners in each category, which include entries made from kits and from scratch, will be announced on Dec. 15 and entries are on display at the chamber offices located at 20 Main St. in Wyalusing.
