House damaged by fire in South Creek
South Creek Township Fire Chief Matt Harkness said the fire department was dispatched to 83 Thompson Hill Rd. in South Creek Township around 11:15 p.m. Monday for a structure fire.
He said flames went through the roof when he arrived, and firefighters made entry and put out the fire. According to Harkness, there was heavy damage to the upstairs and heavy water damage downstairs of the old two-story home. He said a faulty old brick chimney is the probable cause. The home is owned by Tammy Kapp, Harkness said.
He said the owner had some insurance.
The fire department was assisted on the scene by the Troy Volunteer Fire Department and South Creek Ambulance with Southport and Pine City fire departments standing by at the South Creek station.
