Inmate now charged with 2nd-degree murder
A 36-year-old inmate at the Bradford County jail, who has been serving a sentence for theft by unlawful taking, is now wanted on a second-degree murder charge by the Elmira Police Department.
Robert J. Storms, 36, of Elmira, N.Y., has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree robbery, and one count of first-degree assault, according to an arrest warrant that was issued on April 17 by Chemung County Court Judge Peter C. Buckley.
Storms is still housed at the Bradford County jail while he awaits extradition to New York state, said Bradford County jail Warden Donald Stewart.
Elmira Police Capt. Matthew Sweet said Monday evening that the murder case is three years old. He referred further questions about the case to the department's Detective Bureau. No one from the Detective Bureau was available Monday evening.
