CANTON - A large gathering turned out for the Jim Davy benefit on Saturday at the Innes Hose Company hall in Canton, enjoying chicken and biscuits and bidding on Chinese auction items to help with the medical expenses of Davy, a Roaring Branch resident who is currently recovering from surgery for pancreatitis at Geisinger Hospital in Danville.

Donna Davy reported that her husband is now able to eat, drink, and talk after the removal of his tracheal tube on Friday. Jim Davy, 58, faces about two more weeks in the hospital before he is moved to another facility to begin rehabilitation, according to Donna.

Three of the Davy family's four sons were on hand for the event, as well as community leaders and friends.

Checking out the Chineeseauction items are Aubree and Summar Route of Leroy and Teagan Willey of Towanda.

Bradford County residents who traveled on a rainy day to support the Jim Davy benefit included Don Fitzwater of Troy (left) and Sharon Lowery of Athens (right), both candidates for commissioner, and Commissioner Mark Smith of Sayre (center).
