TROY - The children's tent in Alparon Park's lower meadow was the scene of much activity Saturday.

The Troy Fair's annual Kids Day featured several fun crafts for children, bicycle raffles, tables for family-related community organizations and a helmet giveaway sponsored by Talisman Energy.

Talisman stakeholder relations coordinator Wendy Youmans said the company had donated 1,500 helmets to hand out Saturday, with fitting assistance provided by Bradford County sheriff's deputies. Most of the helmets had been handed out by 2 p.m. Saturday, with a line continuing to form at the table.

Saturday afternoon also featured tea time with Troy Fair Queen Michala Kuhlman and her alternates, Elsie Jerzak and Sara Craig. The three handed out metallic paper crowns to every child who stopped by and posed for pictures.

The tent, organized by members of the Troy Fair Junior Board, also featured coloring and bubble gum blowing contests and a giant chalkboard on which children could draw whatever they wanted.

"They seem to be having fun," said Emily Vinson, a member of the junior board.

Other events on the fair's last day included kiddie pedal tractor pulls in the grandstands, performances from country singer Eva Katherine, the final shows of hypnotist James Kellogg and the Wolf Pack Show, and the second night of the fair's popular demolition derby.
