Man charged with rape of juvenile girl
A Towanda man was ordered incarcerated in lieu of bail recently on charges he had engaged in sexual contact with an underage female juvenile over a period of approximately four years.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Tyler Leon Vanderpool, 19, has been charged by state police with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, endangering the welfare of a child, corruption of a minor, and indecent assault.
Police reported they responded to an incident in Monroe Township on Feb. 21, in which Vanderpool was accused by others of having had sexual contact with an underage girl less than 10 years of age. Police said they interviewed a number of people concerning the allegations, and also had Bradford County Children and Youth Services perform a forensic interview of the girl. Police said the girl described how Vanderpool had touched her on several different sections of her body; as well as other things he did to her on numerous occasions.
Following the investigation, police took Vanderpool into custody and had him arraigned before Judge Clark, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $25,000 bail.
