MONROE TOWNSHIP - A man died after being involved in a motor vehicle accident Thursday near a quarry off Kent Run Road in Monroe Township, the chief of the Monroe Hose Company said.

The man, who was trapped in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Jim Kobbe Jr., chief of the fire company.

The accident occurred on a logging road, he said.

Kobbe said that as far as he knows, the man was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 2:15 p.m.

Rescuers had to use an ATV to access the accident scene, Kobbe said.

The accident took place "half-way or three-quarters" up a mountain, he said.

Besides the Monroe Hose Company, the North Towanda Fire Company, Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services, the Bradford County coroner, and the Pennsylvania State Police were on scene.

Kobbe said he was not sure of the man's identity.

He said he did not know how the accident occurred.

The man was in "an old military vehicle," Kobbe said.

No information was available Thursday afternoon from the state police.
