'Marcellus Shale and Pipelines' workshop to be held
Penn State Cooperative Extension and the Sullivan County Natural Gas and Alternative Energy Task Force will be holding a workshop, "Marcellus Shale & Pipelines - Understanding the Infrastructure Development," on Wednesday, Dec. 15, at the Sullivan County High School, Beech and South streets, Laporte, Pa., in the auditorium. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. and end at approximately 9 p.m.
Speakers include Dave Messersmith, Penn State Extension educator from the Marcellus Education Team; Mike Chilek, Pennsylvania Utility Commission Gas Safety inspector; and Steve Saunders, attorney with Tressler Saunders LLC. The discussion will include the background and need for pipeline development in the Marcellus region, various regulations and safety issues, and the legalities of right-of-way agreements. A question-and-answer period will follow the discussion.
Please contact the Sullivan County Extension Office to register to attend at (570) 928-8941. Participants will have a greater understanding of the pipeline infrastructure, regulation and safety, and the needs to address as a landowner and community member with property held within the Marcellus Shale area.
