Memorial list of fallen heroes under development

Under development is a memorial list of Tioga County's fallen heroes by the high school they attended or graduated from including Owego Free Academy, Newark Valley, Candor, Spencer/VanEtten, Tioga Central, old Nichols High School and Waverly.

Family and friends are asked to provide contact information to honor the fallen hero's memory.

Include: Fallen hero's name, the war era, the high school attended or graduated from and year, branch of service, casualty status (Killed in Action, Missing in Action, died of war wounds), valor decorations (Purple Heart, Bronze Star. Silver Star, etc.), and describe location and details of where the supreme sacrifice took place. Friday, Dec. 7, marked the 71st anniversary of Pearl Harbor.

Information is needed for a future memorial commemoration of Dec. 7, 1941 - Pearl Harbor living and deceased survivors. Report those who were there shortly thereafter. Also needed are names of visitors to USS Memorial or "Punchbowl" - National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, whose grave or memorial did you honor, and an "In Your Own Words" reflection.
