Microsurfacing project in Sullivan County scheduled next week
MONTOURSVILLE - A $132,665 microsurfacing project along sections of four state highways in Sullivan County is scheduled for the middle of next week, weather permitting.
The work will take place along 0.61 miles of Route 42, 2.43 miles of Route 220, 0.12 miles of Route 3013 (Muncy Street), and 0.08 miles of Route 4018 (Overton Road).
The limits of work are as follows: Route 42 extends from West Street to Route 220 in Laporte Borough; Route 220 from 0.2 miles south of Main Street in Laporte Borough to 0.65 south of Mead Road in Laporte Township; Muncy Street from Cherry Street to Main Street in Laporte Borough; and Overton Road from Churchill Street to Route 220 in Dushore Borough.
Traffic will be maintained by daylight flagging operations.
It is expected to take two days to complete all of the work.
Microsurfacing involves placing a thin layer of stones in an asphalt emulsion on the existing pavement surface. The mixture hardens by a chemical reaction.
Prime contractor for this project is Vestal Asphalt, Inc.
