Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation awards grant to Tioga Youth Girls Softball

The Tioga Youth Girls Softball would like to thank the Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation for a recently awarded grant. The foundation recently awarded the Tioga Youth Girls Softball $30,345 for a new chain link fence so they can have two fields. The grant will also fund a batting cage, safety rail for both fields, and repairs to the existing chain link fence that is at the park which had damage from the flood. The grant will also install a backstop to the new field, as well as installation of chain link dugouts for the new field. The funds will also allow for an addition to the existing backstop from the main field.

The primary purposes of the softball program is to provide safe and enjoyable opportunities for school age girls to improve the self-esteem through positive interactions with their peers, and through coaches that are sensitive, caring and supportive. Their Mission is to provide a friendly and inviting area for the players, families, visitors, and community members with sincere hopes of building fond and warm lifetime memories.

The Tioga Youth Girls Softball appreciates everything the Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation has done.

The Town of Tioga would like to thank the Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation for a recently awarded grant. The foundation recently awarded the Town of Tioga $29,635 to purchase an emergency warning system with radio receiver, decoder and timer with relay outputs to advise the residents of the Town of Tioga in the event of an emergency. The siren can be installed on a roof or utility pole.

The purpose of this grant is to be able to communicate with the community by installing an Omni-Directional siren capable of producing intense warning signals over a large area. The high efficiency design requires only moderate power.

The Town of Tioga is in the Tioga County Evacuation plan of emergency in which the Town of Tioga has their own emergency plan that feeds from the Tioga County plan. The Tioga Central School, which is right across from the Town of Tioga building, will be able to have this system help evacuate the students in case of an emergency should happen. This system is state of the art and will be able to reach out to several residents in the town of Tioga.

The Town of Tioga appreciates the Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation for allowing this to happen for the community. Town Supervisor Louie Zorn has been the driving force behind this system being installed, and did so for the safety of the community in the event of an emergency.
