Missing man found dead in New York Texas man had been reported missing from Wyalusing Township
New York State Police have confirmed that a man who was reported missing Aug. 8 from the area of the Grovedale Winery in Wyalusing Township was found dead Aug. 15 in the Town of Dickinson, New York.
According to police, Thomas Jon Hodnett, 43, of San Angelo, Texas, was found deceased in his vehicle at the Super 8 Motel. No other details were available.
A New York State Police Trooper at the Binghamton, N.Y. barracks said he could not answer the question of whether foul play was involved in the death.
Hodnett's online obituary, listed on the website of Johnson's Funeral Home of San Angelo, Texas, reads, "Thomas Jon Hodnett, 43, of Mertzon, Texas went to Wyalusing, Pennsylvania hoping to use his energy and experience on a pipe line there. His spirit left his body sometime between August 8 and August 14, 2014 in Johnson City, New York."
According to the obituary, he died on August 14.
In an Aug. 13 news release, state police at Towanda said that Hodnett had failed to return to his campsite or make contact with any friends or family. He was reported missing at 10 p.m. on Aug. 8.
Hodnett was described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and 210 pounds, and his vehicle was described as a dark-colored Nissan SUV. Police noted that he went by his middle name of Jon.
The obituary notes that Hodnett graduated from Irion County High School in 1989, received an associate degree in Electrical Power Distribution at Texas State Technical College, and later graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Parks Recreation and Tourism from Texas A&M University.
