New Troy Hospital opens to public Smooth opening day reported
TROY - Guthrie reached another milestone this weekend with the opening of the new Guthrie Troy Community Hospital Saturday.
"It went excellent, we couldn't have asked for it to be any smoother," said hospital president Staci Covey.
She said the patients were moved from the former hospital in Troy at 8 a.m., and the move was finished at 11 a.m.
The new hospital is located at 275 Guthrie Dr., just outside Troy Borough. It sits high atop a hill, with a panoramic view.
She said 21 patients were moved to the new hospital, and the patients were happy with the new rooms.
Since then, she said, the staff has been getting used to the new surroundings. She said they're still putting away some of their supplies.
Covey said the operations of the emergency room went very well Saturday.
People were complimentary about the new hospital, she said.
"Everybody loved it, people are very impressed with how large the inpatient rooms are, and the beauty of the facility itself and all the surrounding views," she commented. "We got a lot of compliments (Saturday) on how smooth the moving day went."
"I have to credit my whole team. A lot of planning went into this and it showed because the move was so smooth."
She said Western Alliance Emergency Services provided four ambulances to help the hospital move patients.
The hospital was open for business at 8 a.m.
She encourages anyone with questions about the hospital to visit it. She said those at the hospital "would show them around" and educate them on the hospital's capabilities.
"We really want them to know we're there," she said.
