PennDOT Brief

Montoursville - Work on a $1,419,248 flood recovery project along a section of Route 2003 (Nordmont Road) in Laporte Township, Sullivan County is scheduled to resume next week.

Last year's work included realignment of the roadway, rock-lined ditch construction, drainage improvements, placement of large rocks for erosion protection and guiderail installation.

This year, the contractor will repair damage to the embankment, tree plantings, installation of a log deflector, placement of more large rocks for erosion protection, placement of more guiderail and the top layer of roadway pavement.

A roadway embankment slide occurred at this location during the September 2011 flood.

The project is 2.2 miles east of the intersection with Route 220, and just north of Nordmont.

Traffic flow will be directed by flag persons during active construction.

The project is expected to be completed by late November 2013.

Once completed, the roadway and the embankment should be stable and more resistant to erosion and slope failure, thus enhancing safety for the traveling public.
