Performers from Pat Haggerty's School of Dance recently provided entertainment at a SUNY Binghamton University basketball game at the Event Center on the SUNY Campus.

The dancers, members of the Pat Haggerty Dancer Competition team, provided halftime and "time out" entertainment routines, Haggerty said; the routines were choreographed by Tara Stayton, an instructor at the Pat Haggerty School of Dance.

The event marks the third "performance show" the dancers have been asked to present since September, Haggerty said. The other performances were routines for the movies "Fame" and the Michael Jackson movie "This is It" at the Sayre Theatre. Both shows were choreographed specifically to fit the themes of the movies and included 30-40 dancers for each event, she said.

"It was a tremendous experience for the dancers to perform at a college event," Haggerty said, adding that the Event Center is an incredible venue, with a huge crowd and lots of excitement at the event.

"The butterflies really started when the girls heard their 'Welcome Pat Haggerty Dancers' announcement filling the stadium sound system. So many of our dancers return with stories of their experiences as part of their own college dance team, or performing group that it was just awesome to be able to have this opportunity for our students," Haggerty said.

"I am proud that our studio has the reputation to be asked to present shows such as this," Haggerty said.

"We have dedicated dancers and staff that work hard to put these presentations together (usually on their own time), and supportive parents that always manage to have the students where we need them to be. It's always a team effort at our studio."

Haggerty said the dance studio is likely finished with presenting additional shows for now, as it is time for the students to start concentrating on their competition routines. Last year the Pat Haggerty Dancers ended the season with 38 Platinum, 30 Extreme Gold and 29 Gold Awards, Haggerty said, along with 24 routines receiving placement for Overall High Score Awards and 18 Special Judges Awards presented to the dancers.
